Creative Director - Gary Li
Working with flowers and plants has always been a lifelong dream for Gary. After obtaining his B.Sc in Horticultural Sciences and M.Sc in Crop Sciences from the University of Guelph, Gary went on to successfully pass CAFA (Canadian Academy of Floral Arts) and AIFD (American Institute of Floral Design) exams. In addition, Gary also received short training in Lyons, France and Aalsmeer, Holland for floral design. Gary has successfully been accepted to Inchbald School of Design in London, UK & is currently pursuing a post-grad in Garden Design and aiming to attain a Masters in Garden Design after his post-grad completion.
In 1997, Gary launched Convallaria Floral Design. He has successfully created a brand around his superb design ability, thus establishing himself not only as a well sought after floral designer amongst his clients but also within the floral industry. His strong design ability combined with his indepth knowledge of indoor and outdoor plants, has given him the opportunity to grow the garden design aspect of the business. His garden design works include both residential and commercial work from Mississauga, Oakville, Burlington, Kitchener-Waterloo, the cottage country and Toronto.
His works has appeared in Canada Blooms, Cityline, Style at Home and Canadian House and Home.
General Manager - Ruth Cha
After successfully completing her B.A in Family Studies, Ruth decided to embark on a career in the floral industry in 1997 when Convallaria was launched. Ruth oversees the daily store operations in addition to her role as one of the lead designer in our floral team. With over 16 years of experience at Convallaria and the floral industry, Ruth continues to provide outstanding customer service to everyone that comes through the door. Her vibrant & bubbly nature is contagious & she never cease to amaze us with her memory of customer's names!
Floral & Garden design team member - Emily Soden
Emily is an illustrator and portrait artist from Montreal, now living in Toronto. She graduated from Sheridan's Bachelor of Applied Arts in Illustration. She is incredibly passionate about all forms of art including watercolour, acrylic and oil painting, drawing, pen and ink, and scratchboard. She is also passionate about crafting, photography, reading, and nature.
Emily has spent some time working for one of the top florists in the city, and she has a true love for all things floral and plants! We love having Emily on our team!
